Vegetable Growing Competition - 2007

 

Dear Residents,

Following the overwhelming support for the 2006 Pumpkin Growing Competition, the coveted Crockham Hill Giant Vegetable Trophy is yet again up for grabs……

This year the selected Vegetable is Marrow or Courgette with the following categories up for an award:-

  • The Largest (measured by weight)
  • The Most Unusual Entry (Judges Discretion)
  • The Smallest (measured by weight)

This is a great fun event and a fantastic way to get involved in growing your own vegetable’s, so please, please give it a go whether you are a beginner or an expert it really is the taking part that counts.  

The Competition is due to take place at 7:30pm on Saturday 22nd September 2007, The Royal Oak, Crockham Hill.  

Entry is set at a nominal fee of £3.50 with all proceeds being donated towards the planting of spring bulbs around the village (managed by the Crockham Hill Village Society).

Application forms can be picked up from the Royal Oak, or from Camilla Cottage, Smiths Lane.  All entries need to be in by the 17th May 2007.  Application forms received after this date will unfortunately not be entered.

Pumpkin competition - 2006

Last years competition was a great success with the winner (Ross) growing a pumkin an amazing 132lb, there were several other entries over the 100lb mark. Judging and weighing took place in the Royal Oak, Crockham Hill with all participants celebrating in a suitable manner.
